Use it or lose it. done.

Use it or lose it applies in, as far as I can tell, every situation. But what I’ve learned from those aging gracefully is there is no need to tell them that “no pain, no gain” is just bunk.

Doing the Shuffle

I walked past the shuffleboard courts this morning. Empty, as they have been since I arrived and as I trust they will be when I leave. It’s an old person’s game, I guess. No cue’s or disks around or I might have taken a turn, just to see if I could still gauge the distance […]

Coming Out of My Own Closet

Two hours down and I have only gotten through half the stuff in my closet. At the urging and with the help of my youngest daughter who conveyed handfuls of items to try on, each piece of clothing received a yea, a nay or a “second chance.” The pile of “no’s” grew precipitously, demanding a second bin even […]

Seasons Past, Seasons Passed

Back to school shopping cool weather, shorter days, acorns plop, tinted leaves crunch under my feet. yellow. orange. red and brown.   Christmas shopping bundle up, day gives way, a dusting of white, hollow, whistling wind stings my face. black. white. gray.   Easter shopping warm sunshine, moist buds, dampened earth encourages its blooms merry pitches delight […]

Not meant for the easy way

How easy to be a tree. Seed and sprout, Green and grow, Bloom and leaf and shed, repeat. Reach, reach for the sun. Yawn, yawn, day is done. Oh, to be like the tree. Small then tall, with no thought outside it all. Branches spread wide, Food and water come inside. Times up, fold your wings, […]

I love that about youth. They want things to be different and they want to be the difference. Age and wisdom teach that change, […]

Toss and replace are not part of his vocabulary

I just love opening the package of pretty much anything. New, sparkling, fresh, full, smooth, untouched, pristine. I have never been a consignment store shopper, perhaps for this reason. Call me spoiled. 99.9% of the world certainly would. But once it’s opened, I rarely throw it away. Yes, consumables I toss, but I recycle what […]

Seeing, Only Deeper

I’m just interested in stuff. In people. In things. In how things work. In how people work. In what I see and hear. What I read and find out. I guess you could call me naturally inquisitive. And what I find out, I write down. I take note (s). This is funny because I don’t see […]

Time In a Body

The older I get the more aware I become of the preciousness of the body that still answers the call. And the care is deserves.
